How to Know if Your Period is Coming or Your Pregnant

Knowing the signs of an impending period or signs of pregnancy can help you plan better and make decisions about your health and lifestyle. Read on to understand the differences between the two and how to tell them apart.

    Signs of an Impending Period

    1. Breast tenderness: Swelling and tenderness of the breasts is one of the earliest signs of an impending period. This occurs due to hormonal changes in the body and usually resolves once the period starts.

    2. Cramps: Menstrual cramps usually occur a few days before the period begins and can range from mild to severe. It is caused by the uterus contracting as it sheds its lining.

    3. Mood swings: Hormonal changes before the period can cause mood swings and irritability.

    4. Bloating: Abdominal bloating is common before the start of the period. This is due to the body retaining more water than usual.

    Signs of Pregnancy

    1. Missed period: A missed or delayed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy. This is usually caused by the fertilized egg implanting itself in the uterus.

    2. Nausea and vomiting: Nausea and vomiting, also known as “morning sickness”, are common during early pregnancy. This is due to hormonal changes in the body.

    3. Tender breasts: Swelling and tenderness of the breasts is an early sign of pregnancy. This is due to the body preparing to produce milk.

    4. Fatigue: Fatigue is common in early pregnancy, due to the body producing more blood to support the growing fetus.

Knowing the signs of an impending period or signs of pregnancy can help you make better decisions about your health and lifestyle. If you suspect that you may be pregnant, make sure to consult your doctor for a proper diagnosis.
